A great photo and caption.

After the ridiculous Libyan intervention on behalf of a mob of anti-American zealots fighting to bring down another anti-American zealot (who nonetheless has the saving grace of looking like he might be Harpo Marx's illegitimate son), the above-referenced photo matches my feelings to a tee.

Thanks to DiploMad for posting it first.

  1. Most Hui troops in the regular KMT national army, were sectored away in the northwest, under Ma Hongbin they engaged the Japanese in a few major battles in Suiyuan, but the Japanese offensive failied and they gave up, no action occured for the rest of the war there.

And due to tight control over clergy, Ma Bufang and other Hui members of the KMT angered rival sects by suppressing Sufis and the gedimu, favoring Ikhwan (yihewani), over all the other sects and appointing Yihewani imams to take charge, so some of the Gedimu and sufis welcomed the communist religious freedom policy introduced in 1950 to kick out the Yihewani from its priveleged position.

From 1958, Mao started accusing the Sufis of being "feudal", "backward", and attacking religion and sending red guards to attack religion, killing people, and claiming that we were cooperating with the Soviet Union.......

Pakistan was the #1 sucker up before 1962 to India, saying they should get together and attack China, since both Pakistan and India disputed the same territory against China. The Shah of Iran was also in on this with pakistan, but when they saw China flatten India's military in 1962, pakistan and the Shah were quickly intimidated, and pakistan surrendered all its land claims against china, ceding territory- it didn't want to get its butt kicked as well.

China is also eager to keep tensions between pakistan and India as high as possible-

"China and Pakistan sign a boundary settlement in Beijing between Kashmir and Xinjiang where Pakistan ceded 5080 sq. km of PoK territory."

"China condemns the Tashkent Agreement between India and Pakistan as a product of joint US-Soviet plotting."

The pakistan cricketeer Afridi, made a reference to China in an earlier post-

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/04/pakistani-cricketer-i-dont-think-indians-have-the-large-and-clean-hearts-that-allah-has-given-us.html

"We don't want to fight with each other but a third country - everyone knows which one it is - is trying to spoil our relations. (This country) is taking advantage of Pakistan and wants to take advantage of India. I don't want to go into details but these people will not let us come together," he added...."

right away I knew he was referring to China- the guesses of other people on that post was pathetic- Israel has no diplomatic relations with pakistan and cannot "take advantage" of it- nobody else guessed China.

Even before the Communists took over China, the Republic of China KMT government, tried establishing alliances and consulates with Ismaili muslim tribal leaders in Kashmir to destabalize both the Indian and pakistan governments, and make kashmir independent from both, Defense minister Bai Chongxi calling all muslims to watch out against India, since Indian leader Nehru was a soviet ally.

(both pakistan and India were regarded as unfriendly states by the Republic of China, since they both held disputed territory in northeast india and the k2 mountain region between pakistan and China.- we wanted independent Kashmiri Ismaili Muslim states allied to China)

  2. the Uyghur refugees in pakistan in 1960s were airlifted to kayseri in Turkey, a Hui profesor and his wife were also among the refugees who traveled by that route, he now works in Istanbul, Turkey.

The proffesors daughter is Rosey Wang Ma, who currently lives in Malaysia and writes academic papers on Hui history, such as Zheng he and hui in thailand, or Dungan in the central asian republics.

I do disagree with the idea behind pakistan, Kashmir should be an independent state, the ROC should have kept up its hand in destabalizing pakistan and india in the late 1940s and set up client states in the area.

And for the record, before 1958, there was religious freedom in China. In henan province, the local KMT authority had attacked hui villages and carried out massacres, so hui militia units organized to fight Japan during the war, aligned with the communists, welcoming them in during the Civil war, while in Gansu and Qinghai and Ningxia, where Hui Generals and military dominated, opposition to the communists was fierce.

sroll down in this blog, somewhere past the middle there are pictures of the hui guerilla fighters (allied to communists, not to the KMT), they mainly fought against Japan in the war.

  3. India got Goa from Portugal by military force, launching a massive operation against Goa. The Soviet Union congragulated the Indians for their "anti imperialist" move against the west.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_Indian_annexation_of_Goa

Nehru and India were already openly allied with the Soviets under the fake "non aligned" movement, which is code for "Im a Soviet client state".

Other Soviet clients, like Egypt, backed up India against china, supporting a lopsided resolution after India's army was flattened that demanded Chinese troops withdraw several miles from the border with indians moving at all.

    http://www.rediff.com/news/chtime.htm

I don't remember China ever launching an invasion of Macao to seize it back from Portugal. the transfer was peacefully held in december 1999, with no military force involved. The difference is that India is never criticized for any action it takes against neighboring countries or in kashmimr (some kashmiriris want to be independent of both pakistan and India, its not all a pakistani plot)

the ROC government, before the communists, used differing means to seize back concessions, from storming the british owned ones in hankou, to twisting France's arm, holding french territory in north vietnam hostage in exchange after WW2- or in Guangxi, assaulting foreigners- but unlike India, these concessions were recognized as parts of the ROC, goa was never part of the Indian state, having been colonized since the 1500s

  4. There also appears to be a small pro Naga lobby in America-
    __________________________________________________

"However, politics and tribal divisions have complicated the church's growth and mission. After India achieved independence in 1947, Naga separatists (many of them Christians) fought fiercely for independence from India. India's government expelled all foreign missionaries from Nagaland, suspecting them of fueling the Nagas' desire for independence. Finally, after years of violence, India permitted Nagaland to become a "self-governing" state inside India. But entry into and exit from Nagaland is monitored closely, even today, since Christian rebels still advocate complete independence (their slogan: "Nagalim for Christ"). "

Christian nagas seek support from American Christian for their movement against India

"they’ve consecrated their nation as ‘Nagalim for Christ.’

“It’s just so unbelievable what is occurring there. What nation has a flag that’s been consecrated to Christ? America was founded on Christian principles, but I’m not sure if our flag is consecrated to Christ, but there has a call to seek and save the lost.”

She went on to say, “The Nagas are the largest pocket of Christians in the area.”"

  6. the Assamese, unlike the Naga, are the same race as other Indians, brown skinned, yet they still want to separate, which says that Indias problems go alot deeper than racism as well. A photo of one of their leaders is on this article

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4129254.stm

The following are a full list of Assamese separatist fighters fighting for independence from India.

United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA)
National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB)
    United People's Democratic Solidarity (UPDS)
    Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO)
    Bodo Liberation Tiger Force (BLTF)
    Dima Halim Daogah (DHD)
    Karbi National Volunteers (KNV)
    Rabha National Security Force (RNSF)
    Koch-Rajbongshi Liberation Organisation (KRLO)
    Hmar People's Convention- Democracy (HPC-D)
    Karbi People's Front (KPF)
    Tiwa National Revolutionary Force (TNRF)
    Bircha Commando Force (BCF)
    Bengali Tiger Force (BTF)
    Adivasi Security Force (ASF)
All Assam Adivasi Suraksha Samiti (AAASS)
    Gorkha Tiger Force (GTF)
Barak Valley Youth Liberation Front (BVYLF)
Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA)
United Liberation Front of Barak Valley
Muslim United Liberation Front of Assam (MULFA)
Muslim Security Council of Assam (MSCA)
United Liberation Militia of Assam (ULMA)
Islamic Liberation Army of Assam (ILAA)
    Muslim Volunteer Force (MVF)
    Muslim Liberation Army (MLA)
    Muslim Security Force (MSF)
    Islamic Sevak Sangh (ISS)
Islamic United Reformation Protest of India (IURPI)
United Muslim Liberation Front of Assam (UMLFA)
    Revolutionary Muslim Commandos (RMC)
    Muslim Tiger Force (MTF)
    People’s United Liberation Front (PULF)
    Adam Sena (AS)
    Harkat-ul-Mujahideen
    Harkat-ul-Jehad

Some of these Assamese groups are terrorists but others may be just separatist fighters. (the first few groups are hindus fighting for independence, the groups at the bottom of the list are muslim, i believe the main group, UFLA is run by hindu separatists, as was the one featured in the BBC article I linked)

  7. assamese and naga separatists mainly go to china for weapons support and supplies-

    http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/south-asia/ulfa-eyeing-china-for-shelter-commander-in-china-myanmar-border_100112644.html

"The outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is now looking to China for shelter following mounting pressure from Myanmar and Bangladesh with the outfit’s top commander Paresh Baruah now believed to be somewhere near the Myanmar-China border scouting for help to relocate its bases, intelligence officials said. Police and intelligence officials said there could be up to 50 ULFA militants now holed up in China’s Yunnan Province led by its ‘Lt’ Partha Jyoti Gogoi."

" It is now common knowledge that Beijing has been arming the Naga and the Assamese separatists. Pakistan has been closely associated with China in this enterprise. Post-Mujibur Rahman governments in Bangladesh had co-operated with China, but the BNP-JEI government actively, and almost openly came on board to give all assistance to the Naga, ULFA and other secessionists, in co-operation with China and Pakistan. The strategy was to keep North-East India simmering with low intensity warfare, and intensify if the opportunity was available."

"for the Naga insurgents because both Pakistan and China were actively exploiting "

"Not just depending on Pakistan, the UNLF moved closer to China with a team headed by N. Bisheswar Singh proceeding to Lhasa in 1975 to ask for Beijing's assistance. "

It just shows how much their situation is ignored, that the Naga and Assamese have to go to China and the Pakistani ISI for support against India.
